New chimeric gene, useful for producing pathogen-resistant transgenic plants, contains the sequence for the MYB30 transcription factor

Chimeric gene (CG) comprises, in the direction of transcription, a promoter functional in plant cells or plants, sequence encoding factor MYB30 and a terminator, functional in plant cells or plants, such that MYB30 can be expressed. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) cloning and expression vector containing CG, for transformation of host organisms; (b) transforming plant cells and plants by integrating CG into the genome; (c) plant cells transformed to contain CG; and (d) plant containing the cells of (c) or having CG stably integrated into its genome so that it is transmitted by sexual reproduction.
