PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader that can reduce an analog noise while keeping a sense of sharpness of an image. SOLUTION: The image reader is provided with a read section 10 that allows a line sensor 11 to repetitively sense a sense area 11a while moving the lie sensor 11 in a subscanning direction shown in the arrow F to sequentially read an image 2a at a finer pitch than a pitch equivalent to a designated image resolution thereby obtaining image data denoting an image with the higher resolution than the designated image resolution and with an averaging section 20 that applies averaging reduction processing to the image data obtained by the read section 10 to generate the image data denoting the image with the designate image resolution. |
