PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desirable method to prevent production of artifact by minimizing distortion of an image through half-toning processing because aliasing in the half-toning processing causes distortion in image contents such as loss of sharpness, production of moire and deteriorated image noise. SOLUTION: The method of this invention includes a step (1) where a set of scaled matrix values is generated to each of source pixels and a step (2) where a set of scaled target pixels is generated on the basis of a confirmative half-tone relation between the source pixels and each of sets of the scaled matrix values. Then the step (2) is repeated by arranging a set of the scaled matrix values to all the source pixels so as to generate a confirmative half-tone pattern denoting a desired repetitive pattern.
