PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for sensing the opening and closing of a closing element, the device checking carrier data which a carrier has against controller data which a controller has, and outputting a signal indicative of the closure of the closing element only when the data are coincident for preventing a malfunction output. SOLUTION: The device includes a non-contact sensing system in which an electromagnetic wave oscillated from a head 2 is received by a carrier 1 and is converted into electric power to convert an ID code written on an ID chip 5 into a transmit code for transmission to the head 2; the controller 4 then checks the transmit code received by the head 2 against a set code written in a controller memory and outputs a signal only when the transmit code coincides with the set code. The carrier 1 is provided on a closing door 22 and the head 2 is provided on the side of a safety fence 19 having a carry-in outlet 20 opened and closed by the closing door 22.
