PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell size calculating method for a mask cell by which work time can be shortened by shortening time for calculating the cell size of a mask cell for displaying a macro cell to work corresponding to a screen when performing the locating and wiring work of an integrated circuit. SOLUTION: The method for calculating the cell size of the mask cell having an array structure for repeatedly arranging cells is provided with a first process (steps A2, A3, A4 and A6) for detecting a cell which does not have the array structure and calculating the cell size of the detected cell, a second process (steps A8 an A9) for detecting cells whose array structure is composed only of the cell detected in the above process, and a third process for calculating the coordinates of the form data of the cells detected in the second process (step A3) and finding the cell size by calculating the coordinates of the array structure for arranging the cells having no array structure in the shape of an array (step A6).
