PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an object detection system to detect a cooking utensil arranged on the heating element of a cooking table. SOLUTION: The object detection system is installed with a driver loop 32, a sensor loop 36, an electric current source to supply AC current to the driver loop, and a controller. The driver loop 32 generates a time-variable magnetic field by applying AC current. The sensor loop 36 generates a sensor signal by the time-variable magnetic field when no cooking utensil is present. When a metallic cooking utensil is arranged in the vicinity of the driver loop 32, the strength of the sensor signal of the sensor loop 36 is reduced. The controller monitors the sensor signal to judge the presence of a cooking utensile and controls the heating element according to the presence or absence of the cooking utensil. The driver loop 32 is connected electrically to the sensor loop 36. |
