PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary solenoid having three operation stabilized points. SOLUTION: A rotary solenoid is provided with an exciting coil 1, a magnetic pole section 2b composed of a permeable material which is excited by the coil 1, and a permanent magnet 4. The solenoid is also provided with a rotor pole 3 which is rotated by the magnetism of the magnet and transmits its rotational torque to a required section and a rotating shaft 1c which rotatably supports the pole 3. The magnet 4 is magnetized in such a way that the line connecting the magnetic poles N and S of the magnet 4 arranged at positions at which the poles N and S are faced oppositely to the magnetic pole section 2b on the outer periphery of the shaft 1c intersects the rotating shaft 1c at right angles, and the distance between the magnetic poles N and S is made nearly equal to the size of the portion of the section 2b facing the magnetic poles N and S. In addition, the rotating shaft 1 is integrally molded with the bobbin of the coil 1 or the shaft is constituted of a permeable material.
