A roll has a temperature control fluid circulating between an inner (6) and an outer (5) shell. A spiral flow channel with an inlet and outlet at the roll ends is defined by radial fins (7). The fins are attached to the outer shell (5), e.g. by being machined from the solid or attached by welding, and rest on the inner shell (6).
