Preparation of alcohol(s) comprises hydrating an alkene(s) using water and a catalyst(s) comprising a zeolite catalyst(s) of MCM-22, MCM-36, MCM-49, PSH-3 or ITQ-2 structure. An Independent claim is included for an integrated process for preparing alcohols which comprises hydrogenating an educt(s) to give an alkene(s), contacting the reaction mixture with water and a heterogeneous catalyst (comprising the above zeolitic structures) and separating unreacted educt and recycling.
