<p>A cutting blade (6) is made to cut into the coating layer of an optical fiber received by a receiving part (2). The optical fiber is drawn as it is to remove the coating layer from the optical fiber. The depth of the cut is controlled by a control means (7) provided to the receiving part (2). The bending modulus of elasticity and thickness of the cutting blade (6) are 900-20000 MPa and 0.06-1 mm, respectively. The edge of the cutting blade (6) is generally perpendicular to both sides. Since the material of the cutting blade (6) is plastic, of the optical fiber is not damaged even if the cutting blade (6) strikes the optical fiber, and an undue tension is not applied to the optical fiber because of high slidableness of the cutting blade (6) on the peripheral surface of the optical fiber.</p> |
