Health treatment obtained through a medical health insurance card at hospitals and clinics is open to various and diverse kinds of abuse and in order to provide a safeguard against such happenings, a data bank with at least one data record which contains a health insurance identity as well as information specific to the health insurance company and/or information specific to the persons holding the health insurance, is provided. A first remote data transfer connection (20) is provided for reception of the health insurance identify stored on the health insurance card, and a selection device selects those data records held by the receiving health insurance identify, in which the information held in the selected data record are sent via the first remote data transfer connection (20).
