A method for fitting and holding sheet material onto a print roller uses a rigid clamping bar (12) to clamp one end of the material onto the roller. The clamping bar is fitted with several tie bars (16) set radial into the roller and with the inner ends linked to an eccentric adjuster (20). The adjuster is mounted either coaxial inside the roller or near to the roller axis to minimise the inertial forces on the adjuster. Compensating masses (19, 25) can be attached to the adjuster on the opposite side of the roller axis. The clamping bar can be double edged to secure both ends of a sheet.
