The robot has a carriage, a robot unit mounted on the carriage, a battery supplying energy to the carriage and robot unit, an abnormality monitor for monitoring for an abnormal state in which a robot operation is stopped to deliver an abnormality signal and a controller that responds to an abnormality signal to instigate an energy-saving mode in which energy feed from the battery to at least the drive motor is interrupted.
