The invention relates to a control unit (1) for a wheel brake (2) of a motor vehicle. The inventive control unit is provided with a hydraulic pump (12) that can be driven in a speed-variable manner by means of an electromotor (11). The pump delivers from a storage container (22) for pressure means. The control unit also comprises an element (24) that adjusts the reflux of pressure means to the pump (12). Said element is arranged between the pressure side (13) and the suction side (16) of the pump (12). Furthermore, a cylinder-piston unit (3) for pressing a brake lining (7) against a friction element (8) which is connected to the wheel of the vehicle is provided. The aim of the invention is to control the brake pressure according to the wheel slip. A pressure build-up valve (18) and a pressure reducing valve (21) are arranged between the pump (12) and the cylinder-piston unit (3). Moreover, a control device (29) is provided. Electric brake request signals and slip signals can be processed and the electromotor (11), the element (24) and the valves (18, 21) can be controlled by means of said control device (29).
