According to the invention, visually irreversible modifications (elements 8, 9) are made to the interior of the data carrier using a laser beam (28, 29), in such a way that different graphic images can be recognised when viewed from different angles of vision (25, 26) and that they can be used to verify the authenticity of the data carrier. The invention also relates to a production method for a data carrier of this type.
