The multi-section automobile roof has a rear window section (14) which forms the folding section when the roof is opened. The holder (15) positions the roof assembly during stowage and, when the lid (11) of the roof stowage compartment is in the closed position, it is set to grip the rear window section (14) and move it into place when the roof is redeployed to cover the interior of the automobile. The holder (15) has a guide (25) to direct the roof rear window section (14) into the stowed position, and hold it in the required setting to be moved back over the automobile interior.
