An actuator, comprising a guide mechanism (20) having first guide rails (40a, 40b) arc-shaped in cross-section and installed in first elongated grooves (38a, 38b) arc-shaped in cross-section and formed in the inner wall surface of a frame (12) and second guide rails (46a, 46b) arc-shaped in cross-section and installed in second elongated grooves (44a, 44b) arc-shaped in cross-section and formed in the side surface of a slider (18) opposed to the inner wall surface of the frame (12), whereby the degree of freedom for disposing a ball rolling hole in the slider (18) can be increased and a stress concentration provided by external force can be relieved.
