Tetracalcium phosphate is obtained by reacting calcium hydrogenphosphate and calcium carbonate derived from organic component-free alga indurated fabric. Tetracalcium phosphate is obtained by reacting calcium hydrogenphosphate and calcium carbonate, derived from organic component-free alga indurated fabric at 1400 deg C, cooling in the absence of water and granulating. Independent claims are included for: (1) a bone cement powder produced by reacting calcium hydrogenphosphate and calcium carbonate in a molar ratio of 2:1.5-1.7 at 1450-1550 (preferably 1460-1500) deg C for at least 10 hours; and (2) a bone replacement material obtained by mixing the powder with a liquid and its production.
