CONSTANT-CURRENT DEVICE, DISPLAY DEVICE, AND METHOD FOR DRIVING THE SAME

The delay at the rise of a driving voltage is suppressed even in driving a light-emitting element, which is a capacitive load while preventing the circuit scale from increasing. A display device comprises an organic EL display unit (1) having an organic EL element as a light-emitting element, a scanning-electrode driving circuit (2) that drives scanning electrodes of the organic EL display unit (1), and a data-electrode driving unit (3) that drives data electrodes of the organic EL display device (1). The data-electrode driving unit (3) has for each of the data electrodes a constant-current circuit that supplies a constant current to the data electrode. The constant-current circuit outputs a constant current, the value of which varies depending on a given reference value such as a reference voltage. The reference value changes so that the value of the constant current supplied to the organic EL element for a specified period from the start of the current supply during a selected period of a scanning electrode may be larger than that in the remaining period.
