<p>Alkanoic acid derivs. of formula (I) and their salts, diastereoisomers and optically active forms are new: In (I) Z is O or S; R1 is 1-5C alkyl, 2-6C alkenyl, 4-18C polyalkenyl, 3-7C cycloalkyl, aryl or lower aralkyl; Ar is mono- or bicyclic aromatic (carbocyclic or heterocyclic), each ring having 5-7 atoms and carbocyclic rings being opt. substd; X is OH, OM, alkoxy, hydroxyalkoxy, polyhydroxyalkoxy, dialkylaminoalkoxy, alkylaminoalkoxy, NH2, alkylamino, dialkylamino, alkyleneamino, aralkylamino, N-alkyl-N-aralkyl-amino, NHOH, alkoxyamino, acyloxyamino or R2-piperazino; M is the monovalent residue of a mineral or organic cation; R2 is lower alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, lower alkoxyalkyl or lower acyloxyalkyl. (I) have antilipaemic activity, and are suitable for treating hyperlipaemia, hypertriglycerislaemia, atheroma and vascular damage due to diabetes with hyperlipidaemia.</p> |
