PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new process for the production of a biphenyl derivative. SOLUTION: The objective compound expressed by formula (t) [the benzene ring may be substituted; X' is phenyl which may be mono-substituted with a halogen, CF3, a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-4C alkoxy, cyano, amino, a 1-4C alkylamino, a 1-4C acylamino, carboxyl, a 1-4C alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl, a 1-4C alkylaminocarbonyl, a 1-4C aminoalkyl, a 1-4C hydroxyalkyl or a 1-4C halogenoalkyl] is produced by reacting a compound of formula (w) [the benzene ring may be substituted; L, is an eliminable group] with a benzene boric acid of formula X'-B(OH)2 [X' is same as the one defined above] in an aqueous medium in the presence of a palladium salt, a strong base and a phase-transfer agent. |
