PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately recognize a sheet width by a controller of a plotter so that positions of images on front and rear surfaces coincide when plotted at a center of the rear surface by laterally overturning the sheet after plotting at the center of the front surface. SOLUTION: The raster plotter laterally moves a recording head to a medium to be plotted under the control of a controller, longitudinally moves the medium and plots an image on the medium by the head based on plotting data. In a preprocessing prior to the plotting, the plotter automatically measures right and left and upper and lower ends of the medium by a sensor under the control of the controller, provides margins of preset values at right and left and upper and lower ends on the medium based on the automatically measured data, plots a test image, obtains an error of the measured data from the preset values of the margins and precisely measured values of the margins of the test image, creates a correcting value for correcting the measured data of the plotter based on the error, and correctly recognizes a width of the medium by the plotter when plotted. |
