PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying method of a lining refractory in a torpedo car, by which the moisture contained in the monolithic refractory lined in the torpedo car can be removed while preventing the development of spalling and crack in the converter refractory. SOLUTION: In the drying method of the refractory, by which the moisture is removed by irradiating the monolithic refractory 12 lined in the torpedo car 13 with microwave, waveguides 30 and 31 for microwave having pair of outlet tube parts 32 and 33 toward end plate parts 40 and 41 at both sides, are inserted into the torpedo car 13. The length of the outlet tube parts 32 and 33 formed by orthogonally bending the wave guides 30 and 31, is made 1-3 times the wavelength of the microwave.
