PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus with which cost and time can be lessened, a production line can be shortened, and a coating with complicated patterns and colors is formed on an object to be coated. SOLUTION: This coating apparatus 1 is provided with a plurality of first to fifth coating guns 46-50 arranged linearly in rows in the width direction at right angles to the transportation direction of an object 2 to be coated and capable of jetting first to fifth coating materials 6-10 to the object 2 to be coated, respectively. A plurality of these rows of the coating guns are arranged in the transportation direction at proper intervals as to enable application of a next coating material before the coating material applied precedently is dried. Further, the first to fifth coating guns 46-50 arranged in rows are so positioned as to overlap the coating ranges of the respective first to fifth coating materials 6-10 sprayed out mutually neighboring coating guns in the object to be coated 2.
