PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform efficient treatment by using an easily obtainable inexpensive material as a seed crystal, in removing and recovering phosphorus from waste water containing phosphate ions and ammonia nitrogen by an MAP method. SOLUTION: In a waste water treatment method, seed crystals comprising sand or calcium carbonate and waste water containing phosphate ions and ammonia nitrogen are brought into contact with each other in the coexistence of magnesium to precipitate ammonium magnesium phosphate on the surfaces of the seed crystals.
