PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method and a recorder in which a high quality image can be recorded at high speed and low cost. SOLUTION: The number of nozzles in an ink jet head having a plurality of nozzles arranged in the carrying direction of a recording medium is matched with the size concerning to the carrying direction of a mask pattern for masking recording data depending on each path recording of multipath recording and the mask pattern is made common to all path recordings. Error of dot position being recorded on a recording medium by ink drops ejected from these nozzles is detected for each nozzle and depending on the detection results, recording is performed using a mask pattern generated to increase the use frequency of error nozzle or recording is controlled to rearrange the recording data.
