PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weft retaining apparatus capable of surely retaining each weft between a weft cutter and two weft inserting nozzles without entanglement of each weft, capable of cutting the weft in a retained state and assuredly releasing the retention of the weft by a fluid jetting force in the next weft inserting. SOLUTION: This weft retaining apparatus has a partition plate 20 which is arranged between the weft inserting nozzles 11 and 12 and a weft cutter 13 of yarn feeding side and installed between two wefts 15 and 16 connected from the weft inserting nozzles 11 and 12 to the weft cutter 13. The weft retaining apparatus is equipped with a pair of bowl-shaped disklike members 22 which have each curved projected outside face to be brought into contact with front-back both sides of the partition plate 20 and to retain the wefts 15 and 16 between the partition plate 20 and the front-back both sides. The weft retaining apparatus is equipped with a pair of coil springs 24 which are concentrically arranged with each of the two disklike members 22 and urge the disklike members 22 to the front-back both sides of the partition plate 20.
