PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic containing a cationized collagen having satisfactory persistence to hair, excellent in compatibility, keeping merit of feeling of coating to skin and membrane property characteristic to collagen while retaining basic structure of molecular weight about 100,000 that is the unit of a collagen. SOLUTION: This cosmetic composition contains a quaternary ammonium compound of collagen having specific rotation [α]D20 of -180 deg. to -130 deg. and free from detectable low molecular weight compound having molecular weight <=100,000.
