PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared light dye which scarcely absorbs light in the visible region, can easily be synthesized, and has excellent solubility in organic solvents, to provide a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material, an infrared light-absorbing element, and a plasma display panel which contain the infrared light dye, to provide an infrared light dye which scarcely leaves color stain, even on rapid treatments or dried heat development treatments, and to provide a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material containing the infrared light dye. SOLUTION: This silver halide photographic light-sensitive material contains a dye of the general formula [I].
