PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for suspending an elevator main rope capable of easily suspending a car and a balancing weight by a 2:1 roping with simple preparation work. SOLUTION: A point of a main rope 17 is led in a working elevator 4 of a lower floor from a drum 16 of the lower floor and temporarily held. Then the working elevator 4 is raised to an upper part of a hoistway 1, the main rope 17 is drawn out and wound on a winder 11 of a machine room 3, the working elevator 4 is lowered to the lower floor, and the main rope 17 is taken out. Then a point part for working is formed on the main rope 17, and hung on a sash pulley 7 of a balancing weight 6 of the lower floor, and the main rope 17 is taken out to form a point part for working, and cut near a drum 16. Then the working elevator 4 is raised to an upper part of the hoistway 1, and the point part for working is hung on a sash pulley 5 of the working elevator 4, and is connected to a stopping tool 13 in the machine room 3.
