PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alarm device which is capable of reducing noise generation and may be made into simple circuitry and a vacuum cleaner which has this alarm device. SOLUTION: This alarm device announces the state of a main body 10 having a motor-driven fan 11, an operation section 16B, a controller 30 for controlling the motor-driven fan 11 by the operation of switches S1 to S3 of the operation section 16B and having a power source supply means for supplying a power source to the operation section 16B. The operation section 16B has a switch circuit 40 in which current is passed by the power-supply voltage supplied from the power source supplying means and which changes over the current values by the operation of the switches S1 to S3 and a display circuit 50 which changes and announces the alarm state by the magnitude of the voltage. The controller 30 has a voltage changeover means for changing over the voltage of the power source supplied by the power source supply means and a reading means for reading the current flowing to the operation section. The changeover of the voltage changeover means is controlled in accordance with the current value read by this reading means.
