PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an applying method of release agent in a metal injection molding machine, with which moving an injection unit is not required every time release agent is applied, and therefore, the forming cycle is shortened and the power cost is not raised without any reason. SOLUTION: A die is composed of a fixed side die 2 and a movable side die 10 and at a parting surface P of these dies 2, 10, a sprue hole 4, a runner groove 5, a gate hole 6, a cavity 7, etc., are formed. Further, when the die clamping of the movable side die 10 is executed to the fixed side die 2, the release agent is applied to the die formed with a cold plug catcher 13 communicating with the sprue hole 4. The release agent is applied toward the cavity 7 from the cold plug catcher 13 side by reducing the pressure in the inner parts of the sprue hole, runner groove, gate hole, cavity, etc., from the cavity 7 side.
