PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink-jet recording apparatus which can both reduce running costs and form high-quality black images. SOLUTION: In forming color images to a recording medium with a plurality of kinds of color ink and a black ink, a predetermined color ink among the plurality of kinds of color ink is selected in accordance with a use state, e.g. a quantity of ink remaining in a color ink tank or a cumulative number of discharge times of each head part corresponding to each color ink, that is, a color ink remaining by a large quantity or a color ink of a smaller cumulative number of discharge times is selected. The selected color ink is discharged as an undercoat ink of the black ink to a position where the black ink is estimated to be discharged. |
