PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress noise by making a drainage pump efficiently act according to the quantity of washing water dehydrated from clothes in a dehydrating stroke including intermediate dehydration in a rinsing stroke in a washing machine with the built-in drainage pump for draining washing water in a washing tank to the outside of the machine. SOLUTION: A washing-dehydrating tub 1 is rotatably disposed in a water receiving tub 3 suspended by a plurality of suspension bars 9 in an outer frame 10, and the washing-dehydrating tub 1 is rotated by a motor 5 to drain washing water in the washing-dehydrating tub 1 by a drainage pump 6. At the same time, the water level of washing water in the washing-dehydrating tub 1 is detected by a water level detecting means 21, and each stroke of washing, rising and dehydration is successively controlled by a control means. The control means is constituted to stop the drainage pump 6 when the water level detected by the water level detecting means 21 during the dehydrating stroke is lower than the specified water level.
