PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure and a method for mounting a member to an external wall, whereby the mounting part of the member is not damaged by a stress. SOLUTION: This structure is for mounting a member 12 onto an external wall 5 allowing the member 12 to be installed thereon through an installation fitting 10. The external wall 5 comprises a frame material 16 and an external surface material 13 provided on the outer surface of an in-wall ventilating layer 18, and the portion of the external surface material 13 abutting on the member 12 is formed in a detachable divided external surface material 14. Tightening holes 141 and 121 are drilled in the divided external surface material 14 and the member 12, respectively, and the mounting fitting 10 comprises a pedestal 102 and a short tube 101 installed vertically on one surface of the pedestal 102. Then, the member 12 is fixed to the external wall 5 with the mounting fitting 10 fixed to the frame material 16 of the external wall 5 passed through the tightening holes 141 and 121 provided in the divided external surface material 14 and member 12.
