PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a free-sized cap with high air permeability and flexibility, highly stretchable with stable feeling, compensated in the elastic recovery of the cap body constituted of double weft knitted fabric, and stably and easily wearable with a single standard size even for users differing in head girth from one another. SOLUTION: This free-sized cap is obtained by the following steps: a double weft knitted fabric is made using a circular knitting machine from blended yarns comprising 65 wt.% of polyester filaments and 35 wt.% of cotton, a cap body C is then produced using the double weft knitted fabric; subsequently, a sweat-absorbing band B is made by using latex-covered yarns as wefts and such blended yarns as mentioned above as warps and by weaving an elastic fabric 3 cm in width using a narrow fabric loom; finally, the cap body C, the sweat-absorbing band B and a visor A are partially sewn together by a well- known method.
