PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintered silicon nitride having uniform life and high reliability and provide an abrasion-resistant part made of the silicon nitride. SOLUTION: The objective sintered silicon nitride has a lightness L* of 40-85 and a chroma C* of <=30 on the surface or the cross-section in L*a*b* color specification system of JIS Z 8729 and has a carbon content of <=5,000 ppm. The total amount of W, Fe, Cr and Mo in the sintered material is preferably <=2,000 ppm. |
