摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid automobile to rapidly increase a catalyst temperature when a catalyst temperature is decreased as a result of a motor running for a long time and control discharge of a harmful material. SOLUTION: A hybrid automobile is provided with an ordinary running mode, running as motor running and engine running are switched according to an accelerator opening, as a running mode. The hybrid automobile comprises a special running mode where running is effected only by an engine E despite of an accelerator opening; a control circuit 23 to switch an ordinary running mode and a special running mode; a catalyst temperature sensor 18 used for running of the engine and detecting the temperature of a catalyst 17 situated at the exhaust system 16 of the engine E used in engine running; and a control circuit 23 to decide it from temperature detected by the catalyst temperature sensor 18 whether the catalyst 17 is activated. When it is decided by the control circuit 23 that the catalyst 17 is not activated, the control circuit 23 forcibly switches the running mode to the special running mode.</p>
