PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating ash by melting which can reduce the concentration of heavy metals in molten slag when a mixture of incineration ash and fly ash is melted in an oxidizing atmosphere. SOLUTION: In a method in which incineration ash 12 and fly ash, which were generated in a municipal refuse incineration furnace, are mixed 2 in a regular ratio, and the mixture is melted in an oxidizing atmosphere, the mixed ash is melted 7 after being kept 6 at a temperature not exceeding its melting point for a regular time (20-30 min) to evaporate Pb in the ash. In the method, Pb can be evaporated by crushing or mixing/solidifying 3 the mixed ash, the mixed ash is preferably agitated while being heated, and the chlorine concentration of the mixed ash is preferably kept at least 2%.
