PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial method for producing an N-(2,2-dialkoxyethyl) guanidine or a salt thereof, useful as an intermediate for synthesizing a medicine, an agrochemical or the like without accompanying the generation of a harmful material such as methyl mercaptan. SOLUTION: This method for producing the N-(2,2-dialkoxyethyl)guanidine or the salt thereof is characterized in that a salt of an O-alkylisourea is reacted with an aminoacetaldehyde dialkyl acetal in the presence of a solvent.
