PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering system for a ship capable of increasing the operating speed of a rudder without any increase in size of the apparatus, and quickly steering according to rolling of the hull. SOLUTION: This steering system includes an adder 10, a controller 12, a servomotor 14, a two-way flow fixed displacement hydraulic pump 15, and cylinders 50a, 50b, and in the controller, the cylinders 50a, 50b are operated to steer a rudder 60. This system further includes a warmth keeping heater 30 for adjusting the kinematic viscosity of hydraulic oil of oil pressure lines 34a, 34b, thereby assisting the two-way flow fixed displacement hydraulic pump 15 to quickly increase the hydraulic pressure.
