PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently capture selenium or arsenic contained in an aqueous solution in a very small amt. by a simple method. SOLUTION: Chelate forming fibers prepared by introducing polyethyleneimine preferably having a mean mol.wt. or 300-70,000 into fiber molecules are brought into contact with a pH adjusted aqueous solution containing selenium or arsenic to capture selenium or arsenic in the aqueous solution by chelating.
