Title compds. [I; n = 3,4 or 5; R1 = H or methyl; Q = Cl or Br; X = F, Cl, Br, I, cyano, methoxy, or nitro; Y = H, F or Cl; Z = H or F; V = H, F, Cl or methoxy useful as herbicides, were manufd. by reaction of II and POCl3. Thus, 2-FC6H4NHAC is converted to give 2,4-FCLC6H3NH2(III). Diazotization of III and redn. of the diazonium salt gives 2,4-FClC6H3NHNH2.HCL(IV). Cyclocondensation of IV gives crude 2-(4-chloro-2-fluorophenyl)-1,2,4,5,6,7-hexahydro-3H-indazol-3-one (V). Reaction of V with POCl3 gives I(Q = X = Cl, Y = F; V = Z = H, n = 4).
