PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method for promoting the proliferation of a microflora in which plural species of microorganisms exist. SOLUTION: This method for promoting the proliferation of a microflora comprises adding at least one kind of cyclodextrin compound selected from the group consisting ofγ-cyclodextrin, 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin, 2,6-di-O- methyl-β-cyclodextrin and 2,3,6-tri-O-methyl-β-cyclodextrin, or at least one kind of polysaccharide selected from the group consisting of glycogen, pullulan, cardlan, cellulose and glucomannan to an environment for proliferating the microflora in an amount effective for promoting the proliferation of the microflora.
