Stabiliser compsn. for halogen contg. (co)polymers contg. calcium (hydr)oxide (I) also contains a phenolic antioxidant (II). (II) is pref. bisphenol A, butyl hydroxy anisol or toluene and/or 2,4-dimethyl-6-tert-lautylphenol. The compsn. comprises 25-100 pt.wt. (I) and 5-25 pt.wt. (II). The compsn. prevents discolouration and hydrogen halide cleavage and is synergic. The compsn. is used esp. for vinyl chloride polymers and is an economical alternative for heavy metal esp. lead stabilisers.
