Triangular pressing with U=section sides - uses punch with radially sliding blocks, operated by springs to provide upwards fold

The sheet metal pressing is made in the shape of a hollow triangle with the middle portion (2B) of each side (2) having a U shaped cross-section. The pressing is made using a die with an inner spring loaded slide. A punch, with blocks (6D) which can slide radially inwards, presses the blank into the punch and folds the portions (2B) upwards at right angles. Blocks, which slide inwards in guides in the die body, then fold the already folded portions through a second right angle to form the U section. The blocks (6D) in the punch are then retracted to allow the punch to be withdrawn.
