PURPOSE:To enable the rolling work of the finishing mill to be simultaneous with the final pass of the roughing mill, to make the conveyer, etc., unnecessary, and to reduce the installation cost and the running cost, by installing the universal finishing mill close by the universal roughing mill. CONSTITUTION:During the universal roughing mill 2 is operating a roughing pass, the roll gap of the universal finishing mill 4 is kept wide in order to avoid allowing to contact with the metallic material. When the roughing mill 2 starts the final pass, the roll gap of the finishing mill 4 is set to a specified value, and the tip of the metallic material just running out of the roughing mill 2 is fed to the finishing mill 4, and the finishing pass is started. Hereby, the final pass of the roughing mill 2 and the finishing pass of the finishing mill 4 are simultaneously performed. By the present constitution, the distance between the roughing mill and the finishing mill can be shortened, and the installation cost is reduced. |
