<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape machining device which can highly efficiently produce a magnetic tape that has excellent characteristic to cause no slippage despite of a high tape feeding speed and also to reduce a cupping. SOLUTION: This magnetic tape machining device is provided with an optical system which emits one or more laser beams on a prescribed machining position to machine the back layer of a magnetic tape, a feeding means which holds the magnetic tape at the machining position and feeds the tape in its lengthwise direction with the tape back layer turned to the incident side of the laser beam and a cleaning means which is placed on the upstream side from the machining position set in the tape feeding direction and cleans the back layer of the magnetic tape.</p> |
