PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save power of a digital still camera. SOLUTION: Image data in a photographing mode are written in a memory in a memory controller. The image data are read from the memory and given to a display device, which displays an image of an object. When the ambient temperature reaches 10 deg.C or below (YES in step 45) or a voltage of a battery loaded in the camera reaches a prescribed warning voltage or below (YES in step 47), writing to the memory is stopped (step 49). Thus, the power consumption of the camera can be reduced.
