The head wear item (4) has a head part (40) comprising an extruded or molded elastomer material body with a single-piece construction, which is flexible but also rigid enough to retain form stability. The head part has a turned-up edge (46), and a convex-curved outside surface (48') with a pattern (43) applied directly onto the elastomer body. The visor (45) is joined to the turned-up edge by a stitched seam (47). A band is sewn onto the turned-up edge and extends along the length of this edge. An Independent claim is also included for a similar head wear item comprising a single-piece elastomer material head part with a visor attached to its turned-up edge.
